Kingsburg Police Department (Fresno County)

Population: 12,000
Principal Industry: Primarily agricultural with some industrial and commercial business. We are often considered a "bedroom" community for the cities of Visalia and Fresno.

Number of reserves: 10
Number of reserves allocated: 25
Number of regular officers: 17, including the Chief, one Lieutenant, four Sergeants, one Detective and 9 patrol officers.

Reserve compensation consists of purchasing the Reserves first uniform and after that an annual uniform allowance of $125.Ê We also provide a ballistic vest for officers that might not already own one.

Reserve deployment consists of various patrol shifts to supplement patrol when we are short on officers. This may include a reserve being the only other officer on duty in our city with the regular that is his partner. Our reserves are used to patrol large annual community events, assist on stakeouts, warrant services, file complaints with the District Attorney, prisoner transportation to the county jail, assist surrounding agencies with events that require additional officers, and various public relation activities.
