President's Message: CRPOA AWARDED PROCLAMATION

CRPOA AWARDED PROCLAMATION FROM THE SAN DIEGO COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

On March 16, 2004 CRPOA was awarded a Proclamation by Supervisor Bill Horn of the San Diego County Board of Supervisors. The Proclamation was to recognize CRPOA, on behalf of all the Reserve Peace Officers, SAR and citizen volunteers who worked the wildfires in San Diego County. Directors Charlie Conklin and Kim Kelly Falconer accepted the award on the behalf of CRPOA from Supervisor Horn- as they had both worked the wildfires in San Diego. The Proclamation was as follows:

HONORING THE CALIFORNIA RESERVE PEACE OFFICERS ASSOCIATION

WHEREAS, The CALIFORNIA RESERVE PEACE OFFICERS ASSOCIATION represents over twenty-six hundred volunteer Reserve peace officers and Citizen Volunteers statewide, with more than one hundred members in San Diego County; and

WHEREAS, During the early hours of Saturday, October 25, 2003, as the first series of wild fires began their relentless onslaught on the communities of San Diego County, Volunteer Reserve Peace Officers, and Citizen Volunteers threw on their uniforms and put their lives on the line to help battle the Paradise and Cedar fires without any financial remuneration; and

WHEREAS, Volunteer Reserve Peace Officers and Citizen Volunteers responded from nearly every local law enforcement agency working side by side with paid law enforcement and fire fighters going door to door, in choking smoke, evacuating threatened neighborhoods, loading and evacuating horses, livestock and pets, kept the roads clear for evacuation routes, and maintained a watch for looters and much more; and

WHEREAS, Volunteer Reserve Peace Officers and Citizen Volunteers were involved in countless acts of selfless heroism, bravely putting their personal safety in jeopardy to help protect the lives and property of their fellow residents during one of the greatest disasters in the history of San Diego County; and

WHEREAS,the County of San Diego is committed to recognizing and honoring the many individuals that are dedicated to the best ideals of public service, and the members of the California Reserve Peace Officers Association are such caring and worthy citizens; NOW THEREFORE,

BE IT PROCLAIMED by Chairwoman Dianne Jacob and all members of the San Diego County Board of Supervisors that they commend the CALFORNIA RESERVE PEACE OFFERS ASSOCIATION for outstanding service, dedication to duty, gallant support of local law enforcement, and commitment to the people of San Diego County, and do hereby declare the 16th day of March 2004 to be "CALIFORNIA RESERVE PEACE OFFICERS ASSOCIATION DAY" throughout San Diego County.
